Equally, the social networking revolution hadn’t yet appeared as mainstream so it was perhaps visionary to consider how a lifestyle community offering experiential travel experiences might work online.
The original design brief was sketchy at best, and the founders identified Click4Results as an appropriate partner with for the development of all the online activities for their evolving business.
Now World recognised, the site receives around 3,000 unique visitors every day – and will process over a million information requests annually.
Developing the site and gaining traffic has been the responsibility of the Click4Results team, in cooperation with the PR and Marketing team of Unusual Hotels of the World. This joint effort ensures that the website is optimised to appear at the top of search engine rankings - both for the site itself, but increasingly for the individual hotel entries too. The current peak traffic of 27,003 users accessing the site in a single 4-hour period is proof of the robust technologies that underpin the site and its online archive of hotel information.
Click4Results was engaged to identify key online forums and to ensure that easy links to highlight the guide were made available. Equally, the use of online communities and resources, such as youtube, were identified as essential to build traffic to the Unusual Hotels of the World site, and online trailers and viral activities undertaken to share interest.
Beating significantly larger, established competitors, Unusual Hotels of the World was Recognised as Best Website 2007 at the Worldwide Hospitality Awards.The site was also a finalist in The Times Travel Website to Watch and Travelmole Accommodation Awards 2008. The business continues to thrive and grow!
